Testimonials
I had a truly wonderful experience at the Language House. It was a great way to meet people and feel comfortable in a foreign country within a day or so of arriving. I had an excellent instructor (Chris Westergaard), and I felt like I was really made to understand the processes, methodology and the material before I was just thrown into a job. The Language House provided me with wonderful friendships that have continued on past my year in Prague and into my next year in Asia.
I worked for Threshold in Prague as well as for the Language House in 2008-2009. I especially loved my courses with the Language House, as I felt in complete control of my classes in a very relaxed environment and less of the BS that I got from my other school. Though I enjoyed my classes with both schools. This last year I have been teaching children in Taipei, Taiwan. It has been a different experience as teaching kids is much different than teaching adults, but I have been extremely thankful for my training from the Language House as I feel it has really given me an advantage over other English teachers.
Next year, I will move to Dublin, Ireland to get my Masters' in International Peace Studies. I am actually still hoping to be able to teach some private lessons if I can find any foreigners who are looking for a teacher. I think my experiences with TEFL have really helped me gain a lot of perspective, see the world and meet some of the most wonderful and interesting people. I think it will really help me in my future career and future traveling endeavors. I have continued to highly recommend the Language House to anyone I know who is looking to live abroad. It was a perfect experience for me in a perfect city that is well worth spending at least one year of your life in!

The Language House prepared me for teaching English in Prague perfectly - the course was well structured and the large amount of practice teaching time with real students helped immensely. Who could feel nervous doing a demo lesson at an interview when you've just spent the last four weeks doing one every day?
The teaching skills learnt are also extremely transferable - I now work teaching children in Asia and the same methodology has served me well (despite the very different teaching style!) I have had numerous interviews in three different countries since gaining with my TEFL Certificate and am happy to be able to say that I have been offered every job I've gone for. In Prague, schools even commented that graduates from The Language House were their preferred choice for new teachers!
I worked for a year in Prague, then in Phuket (Thailand) and now in Taipei (Taiwan).

The Language school I believe is the best with TEFL Certification at least in Central and Eastern Europe. The staff go out of their way to help you when needed but really push you so that you achieve your max potential. I felt proud graduating from The Language House. It is definitely not an easy TEFL Certification in Prague but certainly the best place to get it done. There is a strict selection process at The Language House and if you are accepted to do the course, you will come out as one of the best teachers in the city.

I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the TEFL experience, it was great fun, really enjoyable and the teaching was excellent I thought.
We received all the vital training we needed and were worked hard which was a real plus point as it was great preparation. We also received really valuable hands on teaching practice which helped me a
great deal in building confidence and preparing for life as a teacher. All in all I would definitely recommend the language house to anyone wanting to do TEFl as i feel the experience was really relevant and useful from start to finish.

I had a wonderful time at The Language House. I found the instructors to all be incredibly knowledgeable, and so helpful! I didn't know a thing about English grammar before I took the course, and afterward I felt completely competent in that area. The Language House is also one big family which was really nice. I felt like I made life long friends from the get go.
I taught some freelance English courses, I worked for a small school called Barevny and I worked for Berlitz.

The Language House was an incredible experience. I recently got my teaching certificate to teach at public schools in the USA and The Language House was a far better preparation for teaching than my entire certification stateside. While in the Czech Republic I was able to teach at Charles University, the finest University in all of Eastern and Central Europe and never felt like I was lacking in the skills to take on any class.

The Language House was a great experience. While the course is challenging, it prepares new teachers for any and all challenges that new teachers might encounter in the classroom. The staff is very supportive and will answer any questions you might have. The Language House has the best TEFL course in Prague and I recommend it to anyone who is interested in teaching English abroad. Since graduating from the Language House, I have taught in Prague, South Korea, and the United States. If you have any questions about the Language House, contact me and I would be happy to help you out! The Language House is truly a family that you'll always be a part of and your money is well spent taking the course.

The Language House provided me with excellent skills, resources, training, and actually even helped me find work in Prague. I felt confident to teach English after taking the TEFL class with the Language House and even met alot of interesting people.
I work at Prague College teaching Interactive Media and Sound Production, but I have a lot taught English there. I also teach English at the Prague Post and privately. Prior to this I worked for Threshold Training Associates, teaching English all the time.

I had been teaching for 5 years before i took the TEFL course at TLH but i had no idea what teaching was really like.
The course was demanding and challenging but very rewarding in the end. the methodology was excellent, Indigo is an awesome director/trainer, and the place...well...it's Prague. i had a very good time and it was truly an unforgettable experience.
Since graduating from the course i have been working for the largest and most successful language school in san diego and i am now teaching english at USD, a private university in san diego.

My experience with The Language House was fantastic! The instructors really like and understand the TEFL lifestyle. This intense program is a little daunting at first, but you just work through the craziness surrounded by people who really want to help you succeed.
I will be working for Shane English Schools (through Saxoncourt recruiting) in Taiwan. I leave for this post in October for a year long contract.

I had a great experience at The Language House- the staff was highly involved and I made friends whom I still keep in contact with years later. The course is perfect for those wanting to work in Europe where the students are primarily adults. (Asia is a whole different ball game and experience with children is helpful).
After graduating from The Language House in Prague I worked for one year at various small companies and English Language schools in Prague. I then moved to Phuket, Thailand where I taught children aged 9-16 at government schools. I am currently living in Taipei, Taiwan where I work with young children ages 3-4 at an all English school.

I found The Language House by doing a search online for TEFL schools in Prague. I went with my gut feeling and enrolled in TLH. It was the best decision I ever made! I learned so much about teaching through Chris and the other trainers, was more than prepared to tackle my first lessons, and found that TLH has a very good reputation amongst employers in Prague. I had about 12 job offers by the time the course was over - but I worked very hard in the class and received top marks for my hard work. I definitely got back what I put into it. I would recommend TLH to anyone who is willing to work hard and be the best teacher they can possibly be (and have a lot of fun in the process)!

Hello all!
I took the TEFL course at The Language House almost a year ago (November 2004). I was able to secure a job in Prague simply because I was a graduate of this particular course. They have a good reputation with several other schools that are always looking for responsible teachers. The course itself was a lot of fun, demanding and very rewarding overall. The staff at The Language House were superb and were able to answer all of my questions about teaching, schools, grammar, Prague, why the little man on the street crossing sign is wearing a little hat.... you know, important questions. I also met a lot of great people there, many of which I am still in contact with. Overall, my experiences at The Language House were amazing. I felt confident with the information I received there to tackle my first teaching job. I would recommend it to anyone.

What I like about The Language House is that they are a small school and as such they are very personal and attentive to the needs of individuals. The staff really seemed to understand the confusion that one experiences arriving in a foreign country, and the terror of teaching for the first time. They also give you a rigorous training in grammar, which I've heard other schools don't, and that's something you really need. Even if you think you don't, you do. Most of all I liked the friendly open attitude of the staff and the course. I remained friends with both the staff and my fellow TEFL students throughout my stay in Prague.

The TEFL program at The Language House not only prepared me for the unexpected difficulties of teaching, but the staff also went out of their way to ease the transition into living in a foreign country. They provided both a social and professional support structure and remained dedicated to helping me and my friends in the program with any questions and concerns long after the program was complete. Both my friend and I were hired to teach at The Language House itself after graduating with distinguished honors from the program. The Language House's emphasis on practical teaching skills, its community feel, and its dedication to your successful job placement, make it a far superior choice to any of the other schools I heard stories about while living in Prague.

The Language House was a challenging and rich experience that fully prepared me to teach English at a quality level. It stands apart from the hundreds of other TEFL courses because it's TEFL and language school that instills in its students a grammatical and pedagogical foundation upon which original, creative, and fun lessons can be created and taught. I think, however, what truly makes the Language House unique and remarkable is its staff. These are people that genuinely care about the well-being of their students both inside and outside of the classroom and possess a lot of ingenuity, intelligence, and talent for what they do. I am prepared and confident in any area of TEFL whether its teaching 1 student or 30, interviewing for (and getting) a job, communicating to a class without words, or explaining the intricate details of English grammar. The Language House is just that damn good.

I am glad to confirm that Ceska Sporitelna, a.s. District Branch Prague 2 has been a client of The Language House for more than 5 years. All the Ceska Sporitelna employees, who have taken part in The Language courses, were fully satisfied with the level of service that The Language House provided. The cooperation became more frequent when The Language House started the TEFL courses. We have met several Language House teachers and all of them were responsible and professionally working people, always willing to help when we were in need. In general, out of all of the teachers that I have met in Prague, I find the ones trained at The Language House to be the best

I just received my TEFL certification from The Language House and the program was incredible. The school provided tons of actual teaching experience and the classes were productive, fun and helpful. It has been less than a week since I finished the course and I have already been offered several teaching jobs and begin work next week. The Language House staff, especially Chris Westergaard, has been helpful every step of the way and I recommend their TEFL program to anyone looking to teach English as a second language.

As both a student of TEFL and later as a teacher, The Language House proved an invaluable tool in forwarding my career and life goals. Their knowledge of TEFL and experience in Prague greatly helps those individuals who could be a little unsure in their steps into a brave new world.

I graduated from The Language House TEFL Program September 04 and it was an awesome experience. The school is right next to the National Museum, and the faculty is great. You get an apartment or flat to stay in (it's part of the deal), and they will pick you up from the airport and take you directly to your new residence. Additionally, the instructors give you a guided tour of the city and provide everything you need to get around Prague (ie. tram/subway passes, internet access, a list of legitimate taxi services, good places to eat, etc.)...you get hooked up. They will also teach you survival Czech. Student teachers get experience teaching at the beginner, pre-intermediate, and intermediate levels to a variety of cultures (Czechs, Slovaks, Romanians, Russians). Student teachers also learn a ton of grammar, which is necessary for teaching in Europe (they're really big on grammar). If you go to The Language House for TEFL training, you will walk out knowing basically everything you need to know to teach English as a foreign language. I highly recommend this program -I had a lot of fun.
